ALBERTA APHASIA CAMP

Alberta Aphasia Camp 2014

For individuals who are living with aphasia (may be accompanied by one of their family members or friends).
 

March of Dimes Canada and the University of Alberta are partnering up again to bring you the 5th annual Alberta Aphasia Camp, a weekend-long camp held every September. It is held in a rustic outdoor camp away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It provides an opportunity for individuals who are living with aphasia, as well as one of their family members or friends, to enjoy a weekend retreat.

Location: ​Gull Lake Centre, 28116 RR3, Lacombe, Alberta. (1.5 hrs south of Edmonton and 2 hrs north of Calgary)

Activities: Activities are both recreational and therapeutic in nature. The staff and volunteers are all educated about aphasia and support communication techniques.​ Here campers get to participate in diverse activities such as:  
  • canoeing​
  • yoga
  • drum circle 
  • high and low ropes
  • indoor and outdoor games
  • arts and crafts
  • nature walks
  • fireside activities

Registration:

Fees: 
  • $125 Early bird rate (for applications received by July 27, 2018)
  • Final application deadline is July 27, 2018.

Sea to Sky Aphasia CampThe Sea to Sky Aphasia Camp is based on a community-university partnership that brings together people with aphasia, their family members, and students from a wide variety of health professions. The weekend-long camp offers an opportunity for all participants to connect with and learn from one another while enjoying organized recreational activities in the beauty of Mission, BC.

MANITOBA APHASIA CAMP 

Manitoba Aphasia Camp 
SANDY HOOK, WINNIPEG, MANITOBA

Day Camps: September 8 or September 9, 2018

 
For individuals who are living with aphasia. Friends and family are welcome. It is all about fun and learning.

Do you have difficulty communicating because of a stroke or brain injury? Come to the day camp for community building, with physical activity, music and technology. Speech-Language Pathologists will lead programs to help you communicate. 

Location: ​Camp Massad, Sandy Hook, Manitoba
(Located about 80 km north of Winnipeg)​

Date: ​Saturday, September 8th OR Sunday, September 9th, 2018

Activities:

Step into nature in an aphasia-friendly environment for a four day camp experience. This safe environment encourages choice-making, goal-directed actions, self-challenges, and participation.
