6th annual OpportuniTEA with Kate Linder and Friends raises $20,000 for March of Dimes Canada!
For Immediate Release – On April 14, March of Dimes Canada celebrated the sixth annual OpportuniTEA with Kate Linder and Friends in Calgary.
Hosted by
Kate Linder, who plays Esther Valentine on The Young and the Restless, the fundraiser combines the elegance of a high tea with the heart-wrenching drama of a daytime soap. 88% of proceeds go towards March of Dimes Canada’s innovative
Conductive Education program in Calgary.
Conductive Education (CE) combines theory and rehabilitation for kids and adults with neuro-motor disorders like cerebral palsy, Parkinsons disease, and multiple sclerosis. The goal is to help participants improve physical independence in their daily lives, focusing on building from single steps to more complex tasks, and using problem solving techniques along with group reinforcement.
This year’s OpportuniTEA featured Linder and Y&R co-stars Christian LeBlanc, Beth Maitland, and Bryton James and was co-hosted by Global Calgary weather anchor Jodi Hughes. There was a Q+A session, a silent and live auction, and it was all topped off by an autograph signing.
Altogether, Calgary’s fifth annual OpportuniTEA raised a net total of $20,000 for Conductive Education.
This year’s tea was generously sponsored by: Alaska Airlines, Global Calgary, Calgary Sun and Calgary Herald, News Talk 770, The Westin Calgary, PSAV, Double Zero, Birdies for Kids, Ambassador Limousines, and Cailtin Unrau. Special thanks to the Calgary Zoo and Lammle’s Western Wear and Tack.
