The Hi, Tech! program empowers adults with disabilities across Canada to build their digital skills and become engaged in the digital world.

Here’s how Hi, Tech! works

  • If you have a disability and are 18 years or older, you are eligible to be matched with a tech support coach who is volunteering their time.

  • Over the phone or using a technology that you already use, your tech support coach will book a time with you and get you connected and comfortable.

  • Your tech support coach will answer your technology questions and help you practise your new skills.

We also collaborate in partnership with local organizations, such as libraries, community centers, and school boards, to develop and offer a variety of workshops and webinars on a variety of digital literacy topics.

What can we help with?

Our tech support coaches can assist you with learning many different technology skills including but not limited to the following:
  • General tasks on your device (texting, calling, emailing, etc.)
  • Getting familiar with a new device (phone, tablet, or computer) and understanding general features
  • Using video platforms (zoom, teams, skype, facetime, etc.)
  • Using Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Using the internet
  • Using social media
  • Being safe online
  • Protecting your privacy
  • Recognizing scams
  • Managing use of technology (screen time, responsible use, etiquette, etc.)
  • Using applications
