MODC Press Release

March of Dimes Canada partners with Government of Ontario to create free accessible employment training resources

For Immediate Release: March of Dimes Canada's Training Institute has developed the Accessibility Awareness Toolkit: Increasing Accessible Employment in the Information and Communication (ICT) Sector, which will help employers create more accessible and inclusive workplaces.

Supported by the Government of Ontario, the toolkit covers all aspects of the employment process, from recruitment to retention, accommodation, and career development. You can access it for free by clicking here

“Removing barriers to employment for people with disabilities is crucial,” says Shirley Marie Garcia, Associate Director of Human Resources at March of Dimes Canada. “This demographic has a lot to contribute, and we want to help employers tap into that potential.”

To explore inclusion and accessibility in more depth, you can also attend free in-person training facilitated by March of Dimes Canada. A series of free workshops will provide practical solutions for including people with disabilities in the ICT sector. Participants will walk away with better management practices and ideas that can be implemented immediately.

“Unfortunately, the unemployment rate among people with disabilities is significantly higher than it is among the general population,” Garcia continues. “This training is one step towards changing that.”

Two workshops are scheduled for January 21 in Kitchener ON, and January 28 in Toronto ON. Contact traininginstitute@marchofdimes.ca for further details.
