EDMONTON RAISES $5000 FOR MARCH OF DIMES CANADA
Local bands duke it out for charity

For immediate release: Once again, local bands rocked Edmonton in support of March of Dimes Canada (MODC).

Musicians competed for the title of Edmonton’s best while helping to raise money for programs and services for people living with disabilities. Over just two days, they raised a remarkable $5000.

Rock for Dimes Edmonton has been around for seven years, now, and it’s been great to see younger musicians take it up for the youth event,” says Dennis Ullman, Associate Director of Special Events and Community Relations with MODC. “This is a way for them to have fun and support their community at the same time.”

Money raised at Rock for Dimes Edmonton and Youth Rock for Dimes Edmonton will go to MODC’s Post-Polio Canada and Conductive Education programs, as well as the annual Alberta Aphasia Camp.

“Our goal is always to facilitate independence,” Ullman continues. “We support inclusion, choice, and control so that Canadians living with disabilities can be as independent and engaged as possible. And events like this help us do that.”

Competition was fierce but, in the end, the Logan Klaus Band won Youth RFD and Stray Arc carried the main event.

“I can’t thank these bands enough,” Ullman adds. “They put so much work into their performances, and helping us raise money. We couldn’t do this without them.”

Thank you to all our bands: Boreal Kinship, Keylation, Lights on Jasper, Stray Arc, The Simple Black, The Able Kind, The Dabs, The Insanity, Ghinny and the Cool It Band, Unavailable, Big Valley Jambouree, The Logan Klaus Band, and Thomas.
