The musical fundraiser, which supports
March of Dimes Canada (MODC), featured local artists battling for the title of Winnipeg’s best amateur band. This year’s contenders were The Redlines, C’est la vie, and No Pressure.
Our judges had a tough decision to make but, in the end, The Redliners walked away with top honours. Altogether, we raised over $5000 for MODC’s
After Stroke program.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who made Rock for Dimes possible,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, MODC’s National Director of Fund Development and Communications. “That $5000 is going to help us support stroke survivors across the country, and their caregivers, so thank you.”
Rock for Dimes is a series of Canada-wide fundraises that have been going on for over a decade, now. Altogether, they’ve raised nearly two million dollars for March of Dimes Canada.
“MODC couldn’t do the work it does without the generosity of donors, supporters, and sponsors,” Stewart adds. “Events like this don’t just help us raise money – they get the word out about what we do. They’re a way to make sure people know we’re here if they need us.”
Thanks to our MC, Mark Morris from 99.9 Bob FM, and to our judges: Rebecca Szymkow (Paquin Artists Agency), Al Shell (MODC Manitoba Committee), Anpam Sharma (March of Dimes Canada), and Chris Lillies (Westech Health Care Ltd).
Special thanks to our sponsors: 99.9 BOB FM, Postmedia, the Winnipeg Sun, Long + McQuade, AMG Medical, and ProActive Physiotherapy.
