Reaffirming Our Commitment to Champion Equity and Empower Ability

Today, to mark the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPwD), March of Dimes Canada renews our full support of the goals of IDPwD and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD). We champion and facilitate the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities, and reaffirm our commitment to increase awareness of the essential need to integrate persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life in Canada. We are honored to celebrate the strength, diversity and contributions of individuals with disabilities worldwide.

To demonstrate this commitment and celebrate IDPwD this year, we are proud to have recently announced four new and expanded initiatives aimed at supporting the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all aspects of Canadian life and society. These initiatives – along with our existing programs, services and advocacy – represent our unwavering dedication to creating a more accessible and inclusive world for and alongside the people we serve and people with disabilities in Canada.

At March of Dimes Canada, we stand committed to championing equity, empowering ability and supporting our vibrant community. We call on the government of Canada to honour and re-commit to the UN CRPD by advancing accessibility, guaranteeing financial security, and promoting barrier-free employment, social connection and political engagement for people with disabilities in Canada.

As we mark this important day, we invite our community to join us in celebrating and reaffirming our collective dedication to advancing a world where every individual is valued, supported, and empowered.
