For immediate release: March of Dimes Canada (MODC) has been chosen to partner with the Government of Manitoba on its vital new Seniors Home Modification Grant Program.
The program officially launches in mid-October, with an annual budget of $1.5 million. Applications will be accepted through the Government of Manitoba’s website at that time.
“We’re proud and excited to deliver this life changing program,” said Jason Lye, MODC’s Vice President, Community Support Services. “Seniors in Manitoba, and across Canada, want to age safely at home. They want to remain active, independent members of their communities, and we’re going to make that possible.”
Over 20 years of experience providing similar services in Ontario has made MODC a leader in the field, with the expertise to deliver Manitoba’s program and a deep understanding of its potential impact.
“This is an opportunity for seniors to age on their own terms,” Lye added. “We’re supporting independence at home and in the community, and alleviating pressure on long-term care facilities at the same time.”
Grants of up to $5,000 ($6,500 in remote and rural areas) will be available for low-and-moderate income seniors to make basic home modifications that are essential to daily living. Applicants are eligible for a grant every three years to a lifetime maximum of $15,000. Manitobans interested in the Home Modifications for Seniors Program should watch for program details, including launch date, on the Government of Manitoba website.
