March of Dimes Canada and Personal Attendant Care announce service transfer in Durham Region

April 01, 2021

Welcome to the Family
March of Dimes Canada and Personal Attendant Care are pleased to announce the transfer of Personal Attendant Care’s Durham Region services as of April 1, 2021 to March of Dimes Canada. We are grateful to the Central East Local Health Integration Network and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for their ongoing commitment to these services.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine the expertise of two well-respected organizations and provide the best possible community-based support for people living with disabilities.

Personal Attendant Care offered outreach attendant services in people’s homes and workplaces.

With a long history of offering similar services across Ontario, and two supportive housing programs in Durham Region, March of Dimes Canada is perfectly positioned to welcome 430 clients and 91 staff members from Personal Attendant Care.

The result will be more streamlined, robust and sustainable attendant services in Durham Region.

“We share Personal Attendant Care’s commitment to excellence, as well as its staff’s knowledge and experience in the field,” says Carol McGill, Director of Operations for March of Dimes Canada’s Community Support Services. “That means we can integrate our teams without any disruption to the high-quality care clients have come to expect.”

“Personal Attendant Care has a long history of providing client-centered care and we are excited to join an organization with a shared mission and vision. We are delighted to work with March of Dimes Canada and continue to strive for excellence,” says Jennifer Hammond, CEO, Personal Attendant Care. Jennifer will be joining March of Dimes Canada as a Regional Director in Community Support Services.
