Canada Post has a Delivery Accommodation Program for residential customers with functional limitations that restrict their ability to access mail and parcels from their mailbox.
About the Program
Canada Post strives to make its mail delivery services accessible to all its customers. The Delivery Accommodation Program offers solutions to accommodate residential customers whose functional limitations restrict their ability to access mail and parcels from their mailbox.
For more information or to request an accommodation, visit canadapost.ca/accessibility or call 1-844-454-3009.
Accessible Solutions
Some solutions make it easier for customers to use their mailbox, such as a key turner, sliding mail tray, mailbox compartment change and/or braille markings. These solutions do not require medical certification.
Other accessible solutions help customer access their mail and parcels (e.g., move to a closer community mailbox, weekly home delivery, redirecting mail to a family member or post office, or other customized solutions). These solutions may require medical certification. IF medical certification is required then Canada Post will provide a form to be completed. Customers who have already qualified for another accommodation program or service (e.g. accessible parking or transit, disability tax credit, home care, etc.) will instead be invited to provide a copy of their confirmation of eligibility.
Solutions can be provided year-round, in winter only, or temporarily.
