Green wave rolls across country for March of Dimes Canada

Press Releases
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Camping is a part of the Canadian experience, whether it’s at a sleepaway camp or a tent in the woods. Many of us take that privilege for granted, but it presents unique challenges for people living with disabilities.

That’s why March of Dimes Canada (MODC) is lighting up the sky in support of its Camping Helping Campers program.

Camping Helping Campers is a network of campgrounds and RV dealers across the country that raise money to help cover the costs of adaptive camping – things like specialized transportation, accessible accommodations, attendant care, and more. These things can be expensive, even unaffordable, to some people.

Our Light the Sky Green campaign is raising funds and awareness so that more Canadians with disabilities can enjoy camping. From August 19th to 24th, monuments across the country will be lit up in MODC green in support of Camping Helping Campers.

“It’s a great way to bring attention to the cause, have fun, and raise some money,” says Dennis Ullman, Associate Director of Special Events and Community Relations at MODC.

Participating sites include the Calgary Tower, Kingston City Hall, the Toronto Sign, Halifax City Hall, and Niagara Falls.

“We’ve got a green wave across the country this year,” Ullman adds. “Some fantastic places are getting behind this and really boosting the profile. It’s exciting.”
