March of Dimes Canada (MODC) is thrilled to welcome Lee Bennett as the new Chair of our Board of Directors.
Bennett is a passionate advocate and ally for people with disabilities who brings decades of corporate governance experience to this role. She’s served as chair of TD Wealth’s People with Disabilities Committee and as a board member of Lime Connect, a global not-for-profit organization rebranding disabilities through achievements.
Bennett was first appointed to MODC’s board as vice-chair in 2022 and officially took over as chair on July 23, 2024. She’ll serve a three-year term.
“We are pleased to announce Lee’s appointment as Chair of the March of Dimes Canada Board of Directors. Lee brings a genuine interest in the governance and growth of the organization,” said Len Baker, MODC President and CEO.
A core objective for Bennett and the board is to guide MODC as it seeks to become the largest and most relevant disability services provider and advocacy organization in the country. She’ll also work alongside the executive leadership team to make MODC an “employer of choice” within the not-for-profit sector.
“Lee is a real champion for culture within the organization and has made a commitment to ensuring the board is spending more time thinking about culture as well as the amazing work we’re doing,” Baker said.
We’d like to thank outgoing Chair of the Board Jay R. Hira for his years of service. Jay is a dedicated advocate for people with disabilities and has a long history of community service. He oversaw the implementation of a new strategic plan and supported other key initiatives, including making advocacy a core activity at MODC.
Jay joined the board in 2019 and was appointed as chair in November 2021. He’ll serve as past chair for the next year.
