Pop Can Tabs Collection Program
What is a Pop Tab?
A pop tab is the piece of metal that opens aluminum cans. Like the can, the pop tab is recyclable and accepted by local scrap metal companies for a cash refund.
Why Collect Pop Tabs?
Pop tabs are an easy way to recycle and help others — something anyone can do!
Why only Pop Tabs instead of the whole can?
The tabs are easier to recycle and store than cans. They’re also easier for charities to handle in large volumes. The amount of money generated is determined by weight. This can have a big impact when a large amount is collected.
How to Turn in Pop Tabs
Unfortunately, we can’t pick up pop tabs or accept them as a donation. The one exception is our National Office in Toronto. You can only drop off pop tabs at March of Dimes Canada’s National Office at 1 Duncan Mills Rd., Toronto, ON M3B 1Z2, weekdays between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, EST.
Ideally, pop tabs should be taken to a local scrap metal company in exchange for a cash refund, which you can then donate.
* Please note that we cannot accept pop tabs at any of our regional offices.
How to donate pop tabs if you’re outside of the GTA
Please take pop tabs to your local scrap metal company for a cash refund, which you can then donate to MODC. You can send a cheque to our National Office, attention Jessika Diamond. Please include your mailing address and contact information so we can send you a certificate of appreciation.
* Note that our mailing address has changed.
