March of Dimes Canada’s Disability Advocacy Network is a national network where you can build the skills to advocate for yourself and speak out about the issues that matter to people with disabilities across Canada. It’s a community of peers who advocate for an inclusive, barrier-free society for people with disabilities.
When you join the Disability Advocacy Network, you get access to:
- Live advocacy training, coaching and support to learn skills like being assertive, communicating your message, and meeting with your elected officials or other decision-makers.
- A collection of self-guided advocacy resources created specifically for people with disabilities, their families and caregivers.
- The opportunity to add your voice to campaigns and speak out on issues that impact the disability community.
Who can join the March of Dimes Canada Disability Advocacy Network:
- Membership is open to anyone who self-identifies as having a disability, family members or unpaid caregivers of individuals with disabilities, as well as advocates, paid care providers, or healthcare professionals working with people with disabilities.
- Whether you’re brand new to advocacy or an advocacy pro, the Disability Advocacy Network has resources and opportunities for you.
By joining the Disability Advocacy Network (DAN) you can attend workshops to help strengthen your voice and become a more powerful advocate.
Next: Communications Workshop In this workshop, we will explore the importance of communication when advocating, how to identify your own advocacy communication style, and gain the ability to adapt your style for decision-makers based on specific cases.
