You are probably reading this guide because there is something you want to advocate for. We all advocate for different reasons.

Many people with disabilities and their families and caregivers don’t have a choice about advocating. Because of the barriers, discrimination and ableism in our society, they need to advocate every day, just to survive.

As an organization, March of Dimes Canada is committed to advocating for an inclusive, barrier-free society for people with disabilities. We believe in a world where people with disabilities and their loved ones aren’t forced to act as advocates every day. We believe in – and are working every day toward – a world where people with disabilities thrive instead of just surviving.

Until that world is real, we’re here to equip you with some of the skills and tools you need to be the most effective advocate you can be, no matter if you’re advocating for yourself, your child or spouse, or someone (or something!) you care about.
