Recruitment for the 2025 Risk & Audit Committee is now open.
Thank you for your interest in joining March of Dimes Canada Board of Directors and Committees. March of Dimes Canada is currently seeking a passionate and motivated volunteer to sit on our Risk & Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
This individual must have a range of skills and/or experience that complements our current Committees. In addition to candidates aligning with our vision, mission and values, the following expertise are being sought for the 2025 recruitment cycle. Please apply if you have expertise with any of the following:
- Risk management
- Senior level (e.g. Vice-President, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Compliance Officer)
- Experience in delivery of large strategic change and transformations
- Practical risk experience in professional services (e.g. Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PwC)
Time Commitment:
- Two to three hours per month
- An average of five Committee meetings per fiscal year
Director/Committee Member Responsibilities:
- Understand the mission and culture of March of Dimes Canada.
- Operate with integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of people with disabilities.
- Provide strategic governance to the organization.
- Attend Committee meetings and participate independently and knowledgeably in all deliberations of the Committee.
- Stay informed about Board and Committee matters, prepare well for meetings, review corresponding documents and reports.
- Contribute to the development of policies.
- Approve the annual budget, audit reports, and review monthly activities as presented in the monthly financial reports.
- Develop collegial working relationships with other Directors and Committee members that contribute to productive and effective meetings and outcomes in accordance with March of Dimes’ Culture Code.
- Review strategies and proposal presented by the executive leadership team and contribute to annual operating plans through constructive inputs.
- Cultivate relationships with our corporate and community partners.
- Participate in March of Dimes Canada fundraising and other relevant special events.
Committee Expectations:
As a Committee member you would be expected to:
- Prepare for, participate, and attend Committee meetings, and occasional Board orientation and/or development.
- Support Board/Committee decisions once they are made.
- Work candidly, collaboratively, respectfully, and efficiently with Committee Members.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Business/financial acumen
- Professional, executive or leadership experience and accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the non-profit sector.
- Ability to cultivate relationships, express opinions respectfully, and build consensus among diverse individuals.
- Governance experience is an asset.
- Previous involvement on a Board of Directors an asset

Nomination Process Timeline

February: The 2025 application period is from February 10 - February 24.

February 24, 2025: Application deadline for 2025-2026 nominating period

March: Applications are reviewed by the Nominating Committee & Interviews.

April - May: Recommendation from the Nominating Committee to the Board. Recommendations are based on criteria including core qualifications, sector understanding, competencies required, and diversity of the Board and its Committees at the time.

July: New appointments to the Board and Committees are confirmed at the MODC Annual General Meeting in July. Successful candidates will be enrolled in MODC’s orientation program for new Board and Committee Members to be held in September.
