Dear Friend,
When I tell people that I had a stroke just over one year ago, they don’t believe me. They say I’m too young, because I’m only 26, but strokes don’t discriminate by age. No matter how old you are, a stroke can make you feel incredibly lost. When it happened to me, I didn’t know what to do next.
That’s why the March of Dimes Canada's Stroke Recovery Canada program is invaluable! It’s an amazing way for stroke survivors to connect with others – people who’ve made it through the difficult adjustment and are getting on with independent lives. That can fill you with hope that you too can get past the after-effects of stroke.
After my stroke, I was unable to perform my job as a Pilates instructor. I couldn’t move my right arm for two weeks, and I had lost some movement in the rest of my right side.
Then I shared my experience – because that’s what Stroke Recovery Canada is all about. Today I use my skills and my story to help others recovering from strokes. We are all grateful for the chance to regain our mobility and our self-sufficiency!
I hope you’ll support the March of Dimes Canada's Stroke Recovery Canada program in any way you can.
Sincerely,
Caitlin Bovée
