March of Dimes Canada Volunteer and Legacy Donor
Harry Lawson became involved with March of Dimes over 30 years ago when he became a volunteer Fundraising Chair. He quickly became a Board Member and was the Chair from 1988-1990, after which he served as Past Chair. Harry has included March of Dimes Canada in his estate planning, and recently made a significant personal donation to support our programs that enhance independence for Canadians living with disabilities. March of Dimes Canada greatly appreciates the many contributions of Harry Lawson, and thanks him and his wife for their incredible generosity.
Feruze Mitrovica
A Profound Sense of Gratitude and a Desire to Help Others
“Her quality of life was improved beyond measure,” recalls Dervish, Feruze Mitrovica’s son and caregiver. “There isn’t enough that I could say to convey our deepest appreciation for the March of Dimes Canada.” Thanks to the assistance of March of Dimes Canada, Feruze was able to continue living at home, comforted by the familiar surroundings and close to her family, until she passed away in July of 2015. To show his appreciation, Dervish is making March of Dimes Canada a beneficiary in his Will. In his words: “I am doing this out of a profound sense of gratitude and a desire to help others.”
Verna Massam was born in Toronto in 1933. When she was three years old her older sister took her to the waiting pool, where she thinks she got polio from other kids. Her oldest memory of that time was when she woke up in the hospital by the noises of nurses and doctors. The parents were only allowed to visit their children one hour on Sundays.
Verna has been supporting March of Dimes since 1991, 23 years!! She became a monthly donor of March of Dimes 14 years ago, and has also included March of Dimes in her legacy planning. Here support is a great way to help more people with physical disabilities lead more independent lives.
March of Dimes gratefully acknowledges the generosity of Dr. Ed & Bobby Yielding, and the couple was posthumously inducted into our highest level of giving, the Jonas Salk Circle of Friends. Their legacy will help many stroke survivors in their recovery journey.
Garry was a March of Dimes client in Brockville, Ontario. Through a bequest of $50,000 from Garry’s estate, others living with disabilities will benefit from his amazing generosity.

Isabella Jefferey is a long-time supporter of March of Dimes and has included March of Dimes as part of her estate planning.
Dr. Logan not only volunteers his time and expertise to March of Dimes, but is also a donor, and has pledged a legacy gift.
