Ages: 6-9 years

Research shows that children with disabilities often need extra support to build social skills and confidence when engaging with peers. Active Together addresses this need by incorporating gym games that are specifically designed to promote peer-to-peer interaction and improve social skills through intentional play.

Highlights:
  • Goal setting: Participants engage in a goal setting process with instructors at the start of the program and measure progress together throughout.

  • Achievement: The program is structured to help participants achieve their recreational and social goals.

  • Social and physical focus: We aim to create a supportive and enriching environment for children to thrive both socially and physically.

Intended for children who have the sustained attention to tolerate 1.5 hours of structured programming and who can focus on a task and be physically active for 10 minutes or more at a time. Children should be interested in physical activities / gym games and in building and practicing social skills.
