End Disability Poverty in Canada!
For far too long, living with a disability in Canada has meant living in poverty for hundreds of thousands of people across the country. People with disabilities are twice as likely to live in poverty and make up 41 per cent of the low-income population in Canada.
The Canada Disability Benefit could change this. First announced in September 2020, the Canada Disability Benefit is a new federal benefit for working-age adults with disabilities. It has the goal of addressing inequities and reducing poverty. The Liberal government committed to fully developing the benefit within the next three years.
The federal election is set for September 20, 2021. Now is the time to make sure the Canada Disability Benefit becomes a reality!
This campaign is now closed. Thank you to everyone who added their voices to speak up to end disability poverty in Canada. Thanks to you, we reached candidates in ridings across the country, asking them to commit to the Canada Disability Benefit.
