Thanks to the work of disability advocates, accessibility has been enshrined in Canadian law, with federal and provincial laws mandating accessibility.

Accessibility legislation lays out the government’s commitment to accessibility and requires standards to be developed for accessibility in various settings. These standards include many areas of life such as customer service, the built environment, public spaces, employment, health care, education, and more.
