Federal Election 2021

Elections Canada yellow and black Vote sign

The federal election is taking place on September 20, 2021. Find out more about our election activities and take action:

The election campaign period is our chance to talk to candidates about the issues we care about and ask them to represent our interests if they’re elected. Don’t forget: elected officials work for us!

March of Dimes Canada wants all parties and candidates to commit to building an equitable and inclusive society for people with disabilities. We’re asking them to support the Canada Disability Benefit to address inequities and reduce poverty for the disability community.

About the Canada Disability Benefit

For far too long, living with a disability in Canada has meant living in poverty for hundreds of thousands of people across the country. People with disabilities are twice as likely to live with low income than those without a disability.

The Canada Disability Benefit could change this. First announced in September 2020, it’s a new financial benefit for working age adults with disabilities, with the goal of addressing inequities and reducing poverty. But right now, it’s just an idea; we need the next government to commit to making the Canada Disability Benefit a reality.
